Tokyo - Mendekati perayaan hari Valentine, sebuah toko di Jepang memajang robot untuk menyapa para pengunjung. Robot ini dibuat dengan wujud wanita berparas cantik.
Geminoid, demikian namanya. Robot tersebut dipajang di etalase dalam posisi duduk, tampaknya sedang menanti seseorang. Dia membawa tas dan memegang ponsel.
"Android sedang jatuh cinta. Dia menunggu Anda," demikian tulisan di samping Geminoid. Ia dipajang di depan Takashimaya Department Store di distrik Shinjuku.
Geminoid dikembangkan oleh profesor Hiroshi Ishiguro dan para rekannya di Osaka University. Dia terlihat sebagai wanita rupawan berusia sekitar 20 tahun yang digambarkan tengah menanti cintanya.
Di sektor teknologi, Geminoid memiliki sensor dan dapat menanggapi keadaan di sekitarnya. Dia dapat menggerakkan lengan dan lehernya, serta dapat mengubah ekspresi wajah.
Penggunaan robot untuk menyapa pengunjung toko dipandang akan umum di masa depan. Sebab lebih praktis dan menarik. Geminoid memang masih terbatas kemampuannya, akan tetapi dia akan makin pintar di masa mendatang.
Jepang sendiri dikenal sebagai negara yang sangat gemar mengembangkan teknologi robotika. Demikian seperti dilansir Cnet dan dikutip detikINET, Senin (6/2/2012).
