Penciptaan alat ini didasari atas ketidak tersediaan alat yang dapat dipakai untuk memotong gabus (sterofom, styrofom) di pasaran, kalaupun ada hanya terbuat dari alumunium dan harganya masih cukup mahal dan ada juga hanya alat yang kecil dengan catu daya dari baterai dan alat tersebut sangat tidak efesien untuk pengerjaan yang banyak. Gabus (styrofoam) dapat digunakan sebagai penghias atau karya anak-anak atau sebagai penghias dan pembuatan letter timbul dalam suatu acara misalnya acara pesta, pameran dan bazar.
Alat ini dipergunakan sebagai pengganti alat pemotong yang terbuat dari pisau cutter, gergaji multipleks. Atau alat sejenisnya yang kurang tepat dan kurang baik dalam segi hasil pemotongan dibandingkan dengan alat ini.
Nah berikut kita ajak untuk membuat sendiri alat tersebut; caranya sebagai berikut:
B. Bahan dan Alat
1. Travo 3 A (tansformer) 1 buah
2. Swit on/off 1 buah
3. AC Line In (sourse) 1 buah
4. Lampu LED (light Emiting Diode) warna merah 1 buah
5. Lampu LED (light Emiting Diode) warna kuning 1 buah
6. R (Resistor) 100 KΩ 1 buah
7. Kabel ganda 0,50 2 meter
8. Besi plat 0,5 meter
9. Kawat Baja 0,5 mm (tali gitar no. 1) 1 buah
10. Tripleks ketebalan 1 cm ukuran 30 X 10= 2 lembar
11. Tripleks ketebalan 1 cm ukuran 40 X 10= 2 lembar
12. Tripleks ketebalan 1 cm ukuran 30 X 40= 1 lembar
13. Paku 0,5 inchi secukupnya
14. Lem secukupnya
15. Paku ulir 0,75 inchi secukupnya
C. Cara Pembuatan
Langkah Pertama:
1. Tripleks ketebalan 1 cm ukuran 30 X 40 CM, triplek ketebalan 1 cm ukuran 40 X 10 cm dan ketebalan 1 cm ukuran 30 X 10 cm, disatukan sehingga menjadi kotak.
2. Lalu pasang besi plat dibuat leter L sebagai penyangga kawat baja 0,5 mm (kawat senar gitar no. 01).
3. Pasang kawat baja 0,5 mm kedalam besi penyangga dan didalam kotak yang telah dirangkai
Langkah Kedua
1. Buat pelubang agar kawat baja 0,5 dalam hal ini dipakai kawat gitar no. 1, agar tali kawat tersebut dapat tembus kedalam sehingga dapat dihubungkan dengan travo.
2. Hubungkan semua komponen yang ada dengan solder dan pastikan bahwa pemasangan dilakukan dengan hati-hati dan akurat sesuai skema gambar terlampir.
3. Pastikan bahwa semua komponen terpasang dengan benar dan sebelum dicoba dengan arus listrik, cobalah dengan menggunakan multitester dan cek apakah semua berjalan dengan benar.
D. Cara Penggunaan
1. Sediakan tempat kerja yang bersih dan bagus
2. Pastikan bahwa gabus yang akan dipotong tersedia
3. Pasang AC Line ke dalam saklar AC, lalu pastikan bahwa indikator Lampu sourse menyala yang ditandai dengan warna merah.
4. Tekan tombol Swith On dengan indikator lampu hijau menyala
5. Pasangkan gabus yang telah tersedia kedalam tali kawat maka gabus akan terpotong
6. Setelah selesai matikan tombol Swith Off dengan indikator lampu hijau mati.
